This Just In
We have been graciously invited by Dr. Cheryl Baker to have our 1st WPFT Full Steering Committee Meeting for 2010 at the Cancer Research Institute’s new facility located at Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences in Lake Nona. Dr. Baker will do a brief introduction of the research being conducted at the CRI and introduce Dr. Steve Goodison to have him describe some of his research in breast cancer. Immediately after the meeting, our hosts will give those who are interested, a personal tour of their 5t floor lab.
The general meeting will take place in the 1st floor conference room from 10a-12p. For your convenience, we have arranged for a comfortable van to transport any member who would like to meet at the Foundation and have a ride over to the CRI. For those who are planning to drive themselves, the directions are below. If you would like to take advantage of the shuttle ride over, please RSVP to me by Monday, January 25th. I need an accurate count to know how large of a van to reserve. The shuttle will leave promptly at 9:15a, so please arrive at the Foundation by 9:00a. The shuttle will return to the Foundation at approximately 1:00p. (Also, please RSVP to this email if you are attending or not. Even if you are driving yourself or taking the shuttle).
PLEASE NOTE: The CRI is so new, the address does not come up on map quest. 6900 Lake Nona Blvd., Orlando, FL 32827 Directions coming from either 1-4 East or I-4 West. 3. Tu 1. Merge onto FL-408 East (EAST-WEST EXPY) (Portions toll). 6.7 mi 2. Take the SR-417-TOLL S exit, EXIT 18B, toward INT'L AIRPORT. 0.7 mi 3. Merge onto FL-417 TOLL S/CENTRAL FLORIDA GREENEWAY (Portions toll). 12.1 mi 4. Exit at Lake Nona Blvd (Exit 19). Turn left at the STOP sign (be careful, as visibility is poor from both the left and right sides). At the second STOP sign, make a left. Make the first right (it looks like a sidewalk, but it’s the entrance to our parking lot), then the first left. The building on the right is 6900 Lake Nona Blvd. Go to the main entrance and check in at the administration office For those of you who know how to get to Lake Nona Country Club and just want directions from Lake Nona CC to there: When you are travelling south on Narcoosee Road go past Lake Nona CC entrance and turn right on Lake Nona Blvd (which is right before the 417). Once on Lake Nona Boulevard, you have to drive and drive, all through the new subdivisions on the left and nothing but trees on your right. Continue down Lake Nona Boulevard until you cross over 417 and continue to enter now, the Lake Nona Medical City. You will see Nemours construction on your left and continue past the first stop sign and continue until you reach a second stop sign. The UCF building, you will see in front of you but to the left of the street. Turn left at this second stop sign and enter on the right into the parking lot adjacent to the UCF building. It is the ONLY building there on the right hand side. Park anywhere and then enter the front door (guest entrance is on the right of the two entrances).
