This Just In
There was a ORC Dragon Boat Club meeting held on Friday, January 26th.
Representatives from Orlando Health Foundation, Women Playing For
T.I.M.E., and the Orlando Rowing were present.
Toni
Short - ORC Dragon Boat Chairperson- reported that the Dragon Boat Club concept
is progressing and that they are planning all types of exciting weekly
activities, from Dragon Boat training for paddlers, to training for
coach's and steers persons. Information about the practice schedules is
being completed but some early schedules are provided below. The
group also discussed equipment and maintenance items, and discussed the
Corporate team Building product in great detail. More information will
be available at the next meeting.
Memberships were discussed and the memberships fees were presented:ORC Members will pay $35 to be a member of ORC's Dragon Boat Club for the next six months, February - August.ORC Dragon Boat Club only memberships are $75 February - August.
Dragon
Boat Committees have been established by ORC and they need volunteers!

Treasurer-The
Dragon Boat Treasurer will work closely with the ORC Treasurer.
Treasurer's role is to receive and deposit funds, pay all bills and
approved invoices, and give updates to the Dragon Boat Executive
Committee as requested. It is the responsibility of the treasurer to
notify members and collect membership fees that are owed. All records
should be kept on QuickBooks.
Secretary-The
Dragon Boat Secretary will keep a record of all members of the DB Club,
and maintain binders with their waivers and emergency contact
information. The Secretary will attend all meeting of the DB Club and
keep accurate minutes, and maintain supplies. In addition, the
Secretary is responsible for all correspondence to members, and
announce by way of e-mail meetings, practices and events from the
master DB Club calendar. The Secretary will also maintain a practice
history for all DB Club members.
Race Committee-The
Race Committee will be presided by a chairperson, and plan the racing
event calendar for the DB Club, research optional events, and organize
event rosters and entries.
Fundraising Committee- The
Fundraising Committee will be presided by a chairperson, and plan at
least two major fundraising events per year, being responsible for the
marketing, finances and organization of each event.
Membership Committee-The
Membership Committee will be presided by a chairperson, and manage
current memberships and solicit new memberships in the community.

Practices-The
last practice in January is January 31st at 7am – one session - with
premier paddler Rocco English coaching. Their is room for 20 people.

Races: February 20th-Tampa Bay hosts a mini-regatta 8am-10am. No experience is necessary! $5, RSVP to Toni at tonis@signaloutdoor.com April 17th- Central FL Dragon Boat Festival, Tavares, RSVP to Toni before March 1st with your interest, $40/person. May 1st- Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Race, RSVP to Toni by March 15th with your interest, $90/person.
