How does WPFT raise money?

The fundraising backbones of WPFT are the well-attended golf and tennis events, along with “Good T.I.M.E. Cooking,” “Rowing For T.I.M.E,” and the satellite fund-raisers that take place year-round.  These events raise sponsorships and donations that go towards the annual fundraising goals.  Every dollar raised gets put towards finding a cure.   We also are the appreciative recipients of grants and personal and corporate Foundations.

How did WPFT begin?

The volunteers of WPFT are fueled by the vision of Founders Elaine Lustig, and the late Sheila Soloman.   "Too many of our friends and loved ones were losing their lives to cancer," says Elaine Lustig, co-founder of Women Playing For T.I.M.E. "We wanted to do more than offer a shoulder to cry on or a comforting ear. We were determined to make a difference on a larger level."

How are the donations used?

Women Playing For T.I.M.E. has made a tremendous contribution to MD Anderson- Orlando by helping fund the purchase of a Helical Tomotherapy radiation machine, establishing a state of the art breast cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment center, and spearheading numerous educational outreach programs.  We have also helped fund research for prevention, treatment and a cure for breast cancer, raising hope for women afflicted by the disease. As volunteers, we generate support for the cancer center raising an average of $450,000 annually.  To celebrate the 15th anniversary of WPFT, we set a goal to raise $1 million for breast cancer research and succeeded! Each dollar raised stays within the Orlando community.
