January Volunteer Spotlight - Deanna Armel

Deanna Armel first started volunteering with WPFT in March of 2011. Her first volunteer assignment was at the Tavistock Tournament at Isleworth Country Club. Deanna worked with other WPFT volunteers to raise donations by collecting gratuities for beverages served during the event.

In her spare time, she loves spending quality time with her husband, her little dog "Tiger," and her many wonderful friends. "My idea of quality time is  either golfing, playing tennis with my husband, watching football, golf or any sport at home, dining out or enjoying a home-cooked meal at home!"

What may surprise you about Deanna is that not only did she graduate from Rollins College as a multi-sport athlete (golf excluded), but that she also made a career decision to become a Firefighter/ Paramedic due to a book she read her senior year at college - "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.  After 11 years in the fire service and a career-ending injury, Deanna was propelled into her current profession of real estate.

Her favorite WPFT event is any golf related event - but she is most attached to the Lake Nona Annual Golf Invitational. "It is particularly dear to my heart as I was blessed to be a part of the 19th invitational in 2011 and I am most looking forward to the upcoming 20th anniversary this year!"

"Volunteering for WPFT has a tremendous impact on my life for so many reasons. First and foremost, I believe in the cause and the ultimate goal of WPFT and am so moved by the professionalism, determination and outright success of this organization. I have personally lost my mother to cancer among many other family members and dear friends. To have the opportunity to donate my time and my heart to an organization such as WPFT is truly an honor and something I take very seriously."
